Quality Control & Verified Details

The Thermal Bypass Inspection Checklist (TBC)* is an enhancement to the ENERGY STAR qualification process for 2007.  The detailed TBC must be completed for homes to earn the ENERGY STAR label.

This Checklist requires visual inspection of framing areas where air barriers are commonly missed and inspection of insulation to ensure proper alignment with air barriers, thus serving as an extra check that the air and thermal barriers are continuous and complete.

A total of up to 25 critical construction details must be inspected and verified or graded by the HERS Rater.  Missing or failed details must be corrected before the home can be granted ENERGY STAR qualification.

This level of detail is just one important factor that differentiates an ENERGY STAR qualified home from other homes in today’s market.  The TBC is just one more assurance that your ENERGY STAR qualified home will perform as designed and provide you with many years of superior comfort and energy savings.
